Carroll Lodge is located more than 5,000 feet above sea level in Kohl’s Ranch at the southern foot of the Mogollon Rim (visitor center is 13.5 miles away). In the geographic center of Arizona and a short drive from Flagstaff and Metro Phoenix, the “Rim Country” extends more than 200 miles and is a natural wonder that boasts cool summer temperatures and outdoor recreation activities for nature lovers of all ages.
Guests at Carroll Lodge can enjoy direct access to Tonto Creek, perfect for catching crawdads or cooling off in the natural waterfall. Explore the Ponderosa pine forest on foot or on horseback with a trail ride at nearby Kohl’s Ranch Stables (0.3 miles). You might spot deer or elk along the way, or if you prefer to get closer, the ponies and horses in the stables love apples and carrots! The natural wonders of the Rim Country are just a short drive along the scenic highway, so be sure to visit the Paleo Site Monument (2.8 miles) and Tonto Natural Bridge State Park (29.1 miles) to go back millions of years ago when part of Arizona was underwater.
